Couples Therapy
Find Your Way Back to One Another
The life of a relationship can have many chapters- some easy and full of joy, others more painful and confusing. No matter where you are in your relationship story, we are here to provide support. While relationships can be challenging, they have the potential to be a place of significant healing and support. Feeling accepted, loved and nurtured within your partnership forms the foundation of trust and allows you to enjoy the everyday moments together.
Identify What is Working and Change What is Not
Sometimes relationship patterns are hard to see and that is where couples counseling can help. Our trained clinicians are able to listen for and identify patterns in behaviors, thoughts and emotional responses, which allows the couple to better understand one another and communicate. We help couples gain a deeper understanding of their unique attachment styles, as well as useful listening and communication techniques. Our clinicians validate each partners’ feelings and perspectives and facilitate meaningful communication within the therapy sessions. Our goal is to help both partners move in a direction of healing to foster deeper connections.
We Believe In Your Relationship
We understand that for many individuals, the blueprint for a healthy relationship might not have been available, or that we may have adopted unhealthy ways of showing love. Our therapist believe that every person has the ability to connect, be loved and share love in a healthy and meaningful way. We advocate for the relationship, making sure both couples are equally heard, validated and working towards the shared goal of having a healthy, lasting connection.
How Couples Counseling Works
Sage House Therapy Couples Counselors practice from a person-centered approach, drawing on long standing, evidenced- based practices within the field of couples counseling. These approaches include Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method. These methods focus on identifying attachment styles, maladaptive communication styles and effective strategies for establishing a healthier relationship. Some clients also choose to incorporate Art Therapy into their sessions. Our Registered, Board Certified Art Therapists are trained to enhance traditional couples counseling with art making, sand tray and other creative interventions. Many couples find the inclusion of Art Therapy into their sessions leads to greater insight and connection, as well as a unique opportunity as a couple to make art together!
