Larissa White
MA, Resident In Counseling
Larissa White is an independent contractor at Sage House providing play and art- based approaches as well as talk therapy. Larissa's path to counseling has been shaped by a lifelong passion for creativity, education, and helping others grow. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fine Art with a minor in Education from Messiah University, a Master of Fine Arts in Illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design, and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Richmond Graduate University.
Before becoming a counselor, Larissa spent several years teaching and mentoring children, adolescents, and young adults in a variety of settings. She served as a teaching assistant in undergraduate art courses, taught middle and high school art for two years, led summer art classes for children in Guatemala, and mentored students from middle school to college in multiple summer internships. These experiences deepened her appreciation for the ways creativity, curiosity, and meaningful relationships foster confidence, resilience, and personal growth—principles that continue to shape her work as a therapist.
Larissa enjoys working with children, adolescents, college students, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship concerns, grief, belief systems, and questions of identity and self-esteem. She believes that every stage of life brings unique growth opportunities and is passionate about creating a space where clients feel genuinely seen, understood, and supported.
Her therapeutic approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to each client’s individual needs. She incorporates evidence-based practices, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), while drawing on her background in education and the visual arts to integrate creativity, playfulness, and developmentally appropriate activities into therapy when they support the client’s goals. Whether working with a child learning to express big emotions, a college student navigating the transition to adulthood, or an adult seeking greater balance and connection, Larissa is committed to helping clients build insight, resilience, and confidence as they move toward meaningful and lasting change. She is an in-network provider with AnthemBCBS PPO plans as well as Kaiser Permanente. She offers therapy session in-person at our Arlington office location as well as through telehealth.
